Iowa Student Assessment
IOWA STUDENT ASSESSMENTS NEXT WEEK
Clarksville Junior/Senior High School Principal Robert Saathoff has announced that the
administration of the Iowa Assessments (previously known as the Iowa Tests of Basic Skills and
the Iowa Tests of Educational Development) will take place on Tuesday, February 9th and
Thursday, February 11th. Grades 7-11 will be taking the Assessments. No testing will be done
on Wednesday, February 10th due to the late start for professional development. In accordance
with No Child Left Behind legislation these tests serve as one of Clarksville’s two measurements
of student progress. The other instrument used to measure student progress is the Measures of
Academic Progress (MAP) test. Two measures are required by No Child Left Behind legislation.
Without strong student performances on these tests, Clarksville cannot meet state and federal
standards established by NCLB. Our school’s scores are reported and publicized throughout the
state and we want to strongly emphasize the importance of students doing well on these tests.
The Clarksville Community School District encourages all parents to help make every
effort to see that their children are available daily and adequately prepared for this very
important testing.
